This is a common misconception that needs to be cleared up. These two people are extremely different. Don't get it twisted. Let's get something straight. The story of the birth of the one who came to be known as John the Baptist gives signs of the greatness to come. The Angel Gabriel told of his birth to come. John the Baptist came from a priestly family. He was a major religious figure. John the Baptist was born the 1st century BC. His mother name was Elizabeth and his dad's name was Zacharias. John was an unusual character. John had a unique practice of baptism. John the Baptist was a fascinating man. God had performed a miracle and brought John into the world for a special purpose! John the Baptist was decapitated ;maybe meaning attempt to undermine (a group or organization) by removing its leader. Who knows. Some people and some scholars believe the Jesus was a follower of John the Baptist. Did John the Baptist baptize with Holy water? John the Baptist is mentioned in all 4 of the gospels. John the Baptist knew that he was called by God. “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the LORD; make His paths straight’”
We know little to nothing about the truth of John the Baptist but I can recognize that he is remarkable enough to be famous; very well known which makes him legendary.
John the Apostle was a different person in very different circumstances. John was one of Jesus' disciples. He was also the author behind the Gospel of John, as well as the Book of Revelation. It is, however, disputed whether John the Apostle actually wrote the Book of Revelation. He was also the son of Zebedee. That's all that I have to say about the Apostle of that loved Jesus so much. That's all I have to say about that ordinary man.
